Way back, I attempted to put together a player's guide for my own games, custom rules and all that jazz so players could have everything handy to read through before and during game play. One of the sections I designed was customized stats rolls based off of the choices a player makes for both Race and Class. Each race and each class has a d6 value assigned for all six stats and the total between the two, gives a player the total number of d6 dice that they are allowed to roll per stat. The reason I settled on this approach is that it gives the player the "chance" of getting better stats for relevant stats, but does not guarantee it will happen such as giving a base number like say, 6+2d6 or some such.
Here is the chart I developed for this method, it could probably use some revamping since I wrote it many years ago and probably not with the best thought put into it.
I also devised a chart for HP adjustment based on CON that altered a character's HD as opposed to just giving a flat bonus or penalty, based on their class:

Having the hit die of a class vary based on the CON of the character is an interesting alternative to the standard +1/+2/+3 hit points per level mechanic.

Yeah, like the d6 stat rolls, the die shift give the player a "chance" to roll a higher HP value on any one die roll, but does not guarantee that they will get one.
I kinda like my random die rolls, lol.

I like it, but some of the numbers of d6 are uneven. Not sure if you meant it that way. Dwarf and Hobbit get 11d6 total, but Human and Elf get 12d6.
Also for classes, some similar stuff, Cleric and Wizard have 11d6, Fighter has 12 and Thief has 13! I like playing thieves and they need all the help they can get, but it seems uneven.
I think I might use something similar in my next PbP!
PS: The only other thing I saw is that the order of attributes is off (S, I, W, D, Con, Cha is the way) and Magic-User was misspelled.

Haha, thanks for pointing all of that out Ron. To be honest, I developed this back in the mid 90s when I was big into AD&D 2e, hence "wizard" instead of magic-user. That being said, I also agree that the classes could be balanced better; I'm not sure where my mindset was in regards to the classes and the dice they have available to roll stats. I was using my own personal thought on what would seem most likely for each one, then again some of them like Thieves getting 3d6 in WIS was probably a typo.rredmond wrote: ↑January 19th, 2019, 4:49 pm I like it, but some of the numbers of d6 are uneven.
