Kingmaker is a fun board game that several of us here on Pipes, Pints, and Polyhedrons have played. It was recently mentioned in the Lex Arcana thread in the Role Playing games section so I thought I'd put some info here for anyone interested.

Kingmaker simulates the Wars of the Roses, the period of sporadic Civil War in England between 1450 and 1490. Ruled by a weak and mentally unstable king, Henry VI, demoralized by the defeat in France at the end of the Hundred Years War, and encouraged by the ambitions of Richard, Duke of York, and his sons; the country's Noble families used their large private armies in attempts to gain control of the government.

The game is based on the premise that the powerful Noble families used the Lancastrian and Yorkist princes as pawns in a greater game of gaining control of England. Players control factions using their military and political power to control and influence the royal heirs, supporting the heir in their control as king while trying to take down all of the other heirs.

At some point we're going to have to get together again for a long weekend or some such and include another round of Kingmaker in the festivities! 8-)

Indeed! It's a fun, strategic board game. The last time I remember playing was at your 40th birthday party at Wes's house in Valdosta.

That was a fun session!

Last time I played was at OmaCon in 2017. Me, Wes, Sam, Jared, and Jeff were involved. Sam had some bad luck on the draw of cards at the start but worked his way into being a major player in the game.

Holy crap! Did we play KM at Lord G's 40th? I have no memory of that...

How did you not play at Omacon 2017 (I almost wrote "Omicron" :? )?

Would be cool if there was a play-by-(e)mail version like some people do with chess and Diplomacy. It could happen. :hmm:

I mentioned Kingmaker as one of my faves at our local board game library here in Tallahassee, and this old-timer told me "if you're not playing the advanced game, you're not really playing"... :o

Unfortunately I never made it to Omacon, I don't recall the circumstances but I couldn't be there.

As for playing KM, if anyone has Table Top Simulator for Steam, Kingmaker is available for free.

I have TTS and would be down to try some Kingmaker. I'd have to schedule it out pretty far in advance though. Victoria takes up pretty much all my time these days.
