I was lucky enough to win an auction from The Collector's Trove, Paul Stormberg's business for selling some of Gary's personal items and memorabilia. It might not be something from the TSR era, but combining my enjoyment of Gary's legacy with something related to the Trolls seemed like a good piece of history to shoot for. I don't think I was aware that TLG was running conventions back in 2007, I was probably still attending DragonCon and Origins at the time. Hindsight 20/20, I wish I had known, though, I would love to have attended while Gary was in attendance.

The last time I met Gary before he died was the 2008 Lake Geneva Gaming Con. The Trolls ran Winter Dark following the TSR Winter Festival seasonal con rotation.
I considered bidding on his 1987 Origins badge, since that’s when he signed my DMG, but I focused on the Holmes and Lakofka manuscripts (and lost all three, alas).

TSR Winter Festival...was this an annual con that took place? I've never heard of it. If so, someone needs to bring that back, it sounds like a good way to promote the hobby of yesteryear.grodog wrote: ↑November 29th, 2023, 1:52 pm The last time I met Gary before he died was the 2008 Lake Geneva Gaming Con. If Luke starts making the weekend of Founders and Legends an annual event, I could actually be tempted to make a return to Lake Geneva after breaking for a year or so. With a much smaller crowd and a focus on older games, this sounds more in line with the earlier years of GC.

Yes, they had quarterly cons BITD; IIRC they were Spring [Revel?], GenCon, Autumn Revel, Winter Fantasy.
If I end up going, I’ll definitely chime in with my thoughtsNecron 99 wrote: ↑November 29th, 2023, 4:44 pm If Luke starts making the weekend of Founders and Legends an annual event, I could actually be tempted to make a return to Lake Geneva after breaking for a year or so.
