Cool (and creepy) animated film coming out.

"How crazy do we have to make a movie to get Nick Cage to star in it?"
"Yes."
This is one of those seriously out there films that's either going to be cult hit or big ole flop.

Spiderman No Way Home, I like that Dr. Strange is part of the storyline. I'm not big on the marvel movies, but have enjoyed the Spidey flicks.

Shared that one with Heather and the boys (although Ethan and Henry may have already seen it). Thanks, Jay!

I'm also not big on Marvel films. I've seen a handful of them but have always been a Dr. Strange fan, having collected the comics since the mid-80s. Naturally, the Dr. Strange film was my favorite Marvel movie.

For those with Amazon Prime, apparently Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series is coming. Never read the books, myself, but they were all the rage in the fantasy genre for a while. Having no dog in the hunt, I can't harbor any bias for the series one way or the other, but I'll check it out. The teaser looks interesting enough, hopefully the story, acting, and effects hold up.

Not sure how I feel about bringing back this franchise. The first one was awesome back in the day and always will be a hit. The second and third, I can give or take. Now we have the next installment, which, like most stuff coming out of Hollyweird, I'm skeptical will be good. I mean, in the trailer we already see a "blue-haired" character, which is never a good sign for anything.
I thought the entire point of the original movies was that Neo broke out of the Matrix, they waged and won a war against the machines that were controlling the humans, essentially dissolving the Matrix and control of humanity. Now Neo is back in the Matrix and finding out all over again; this to me just screams, The Force Awakens.

A reboot of The Matrix just makes me angry. I'll pass on this one on general principle. The Matrix was adored because it was one of the few "new stories" to come out of Hollywood in the last 30 years. Rehashing it into oblivion is just standard practice now, and I won't support it.

Regarding The Wheel of Time that series was a big influence on me from middle school onwards. I was quite upset when the author died, as he had expressed that he didn't want anyone else to finish the story. In the end his wife decided to let Brandon Sanderson finish it up, and I think he did a good job. Overall the series went on for far too long, but it had so many excellent moments in it that I still enjoyed reading it to the end. A lot of things in the story are ruled by the gender of the character, and that leads to a lot of stereotyping on both sides throughout the books, but it didn't detract from the story for me. Depending on how they adapt it to television though it could be an absolute shit show.
For Example: In the WoT world, magic comes from the One Power. It has a masculine and a feminine side. The masculine side was tainted by The Dark One during the last major conflict and all male channelers are doomed to go insane and murder everyone around them. The female side was left untainted and the female channelers hold immense power in the world as hunters of male channelers and as true powers behind the thrones of many nations. As such the female channelers are generally viewed with extreme suspicion by the general peasants both male and female.
Now that could be adapted to screen in so many ways. A lot of other societal structures work in a similar vein. It will entirely depend on the show runners and the writing. I figure I'll know before two episodes are finished if it's worth watching or if it's going to be a Netflix Lost In Space level shitshow.
