Haven't actually had the chance to watch it yet. But I expect it's going to be well worth the watch, glad to hear you approve.

Heather, her mom, and I saw _Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore_ on Mother’s Day afternoon. It was good, but not great.

I’ve enjoyed the series to date, and like Jude Law as Dumbledore (visually he lines up nicely with Richard Harris, but is more conniving like Mordenkainen in his portrayal, which I like, and aligns with Michael Gambian’s version of the character), and Madds Mikkelsen replacing Depp as Grindelwald (he’s more menacing/less quirky). The rest of the ensemble is fun too, but the storyline left many dangling threads and/or missed many opportunities to tighten the final film up more, and it felt somewhat flat/deflated by the end.

We could have waited for video on this one.

Allan.

I don't think I've watched any of the Fantastic Beasts flicks yet, at least not completely. I started watching the first one after it hit one of the streaming services, but for whatever reason didn't finish watching it. I've never really been a huge HP follower in the first place, though I've enjoyed what I have seen or engaged in here and there. Took the "official" online test and all that to get sorted into a house (Ravenclaw). I have watched all of the original movies, mainly because my wife is/was big into the series, she read all of the books before the movies were all filmed. I read the first book a couple years back but haven't pursued any others since.

I've maintained the feeling that the FB movies were just a way to try and continue cashing in on the IP, as opposed to a labor or love the way the original series was. Perhaps I'll get around to giving these another go at some point. I'm actually more interested in the upcoming open-world, video game for the HP setting, Hogwarts Legacy. I believe it's slated to come out December of this year.

I finished watching season 2 of the Hardy Boys, on Hulu. I really like the series and storyline that they have going on. Season 2 left the series at a pretty big cliffhanger so I'm expecting/hoping for a season 3 to, at the very least, wrap up the entire story.

Also finished watching the first season of Reacher, on Amz Prime, and Archive81 on Netflix, both which I enjoyed.

Currently wrapping up the first season of the HBO show, Peacemaker. Pretty damn funny, but really crude and has some over the top antics. Storyline is pretty decent, it's really not an in-depth show, it's really just there for the action, crudeness, and comedy.

Looking forward to S4 of Stranger Things, later this month.

I think someone in the comment's said it best, "So we’re supposed to believe a girl armed with a bow and arrow can take on a predator by herself when a group of highly-trained, well-armed soldiers could barely do it in the original film? Yeah, ok."

Look what "Dutch" as portrayed by AH-NULD had to go through with his encounter with a Predator. Dutch is a near-perfect physical specimen from the perspective of human strength and ahtleticism and still got his ass kicked hand-to-hand. He was an elite special forces commander, had explosives (which only served to destroy some of the Predator's technology and piss him off), understood infra-red technology and how to effectively mask himself from it ... and it still came down to positioning the Predator into a trap, which was dependent upon Dutch's phenomenal strength to hoist a giant log to use as a deadfall to squash his foe.

If "Prey" were to be about a Predator, a being from a culture centuries, perhaps millennia, ahead of humanity technologically since I'm assuming FTL interstellar travel between star systems, going on safari and showing us how they sportingly slaughter a hopelessly outmatched species then so be it. It would be spectacularly depressing... unless the Predator dropped into Comanche nation is their version of Nathan from South Park and the heroine is Classi.

While floating along YouTube I found another video from The Critical Drinker that does not disappoint. In this one he tries to salvage Game of Thrones season 8. He does an admirable job. Some of it I'm all on board with but some things I would do differently. Anyway, check it out:

Ugh. One of the worst letdowns in television history. CD is right though, you could absolutely tell when the books stopped and the HBO writers took over to fill in the rest.

Seasons 1-4 are the best TV I've watched.
Season 5 started the decline after the the peak that was season 4.
Season 6 continued the decline. There were some good parts but some deeply dumb stuff.
Season 7... so much wasted opportunity.
Season 8 = shit show.

I read that GRRM said the show could've gone 10-11 seasons but no one dared to ask him "How could it when you didn't get off your ass to finish the source material for which you had a multi-year head start?!?!?!"
