I've been hearing some pretty descent things about Dune, I'll check it out.
Saw a new Bruce Campbell movie is coming out.
Looks like a zombie flick, but I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some Evil Dead connection going on.

New Witcher Season 2 dropping Dec 17th. First season was good, this one looks good too.

Yaaaaas! This one totally got me out from under my rock and into the theatre. First movie I've wanted to immediately go see again since "Fellowship of the Ring". SO worth it!

Apparently Disney has a new SW movie or series or something coming out. After screwing up what appeared to be a really good series with The Mandalorian, I'm not sure if they can pull in more fans. Boba Fett might do it, but for me personally the SW ship has sailed; outside of the original three movies, I'm just not interested in the SW universe anymore.

After the derivative, intellectually lazy, and insulting shit shows that were Episodes 7-9, I gave up on Star Wars.

Sadly, it's all wasted potential. I deliberately did not reread the books (read them years ago now) so I could enjoy the show on its own. I knew there would be deviations, some small and some big. Taken as an "inspired by The Foundation" show, I thought I could enjoy it. However, it was written by "geniuses" who think that a book series predicated largely on non-violent (via trade, cultural game, embargoes, etc.) conflict resolution and rationality needed to be transformed into an action series. And a badly written one at that.
They also largely get the idea of psychohistory (which forms a key foundation, no pun intended, to the entire series of stories) from the books either wrong or they deliberately reject it. Very frustrating to watch from either perspective, on its own or as a fan of the books.

That's unfortunate. Sounds like another fine example of a studio taking a property and discarding most, if not all, of the elements that made it popular to begin with for no good reason. Makes me think of The Critical Drinker's clips about Why Modern Movies Suck.alester wrote: ↑November 5th, 2021, 9:10 pmSadly, it's all wasted potential. Teaser for Obi-Wan. Interesting to hear that they are bringing back Haden Christensen as Darth Vader. I just don't know if Disney can do anything more to redeem the Star Wars franchise at this point.
Also saw that a new series is starting on Disney+, for the Moon Knight character, trailer below. I never followed the comics so I'm at a loss for how this will or should turn out.
