I've actually enjoyed the few movies with Tatum that I've seen. This one looks like straight up, no BS, back to basics, pure comedy fun in the vein of Turner and Hooch and other human/animal companion films.

I've not read any of the Jack Reacher books, but I watched the movie with Tom Cruise and enjoyed it well enough. This new series has Alan Ritchson and seems to be a good fit. I'll check this out on Prime when it comes out in Feb.

This one gave me a good laugh, great cast lineup too. Maybe Hollyweird will start spittin' out some good stuff next year.

THE LOST CITY (Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt, Daniel Radcliffe)

Alright, this looks good.

Also ran across this trailer for a new series on EPIX, called Chapelwaite, a miniseries based on a Stephen King short-story (tied to Salem's Lot) with hints/elements of possible Lovecraft.

New Marvel Supers series, Moon Knight. This was one character from the Marvel Universe that I never read or really know anything about. From the trailer, it looks like the hero derives powers from an Egyptian origin (god?). If so, I may have to dig into the comics and take a gander, seems really cool.

Preview for the new LotR series on Amazon Prime.

So I'm not going to lie, I got that excited, thrilled feeling like I did watching Jackson's FotR for the first time, especially when the narrator pronounces Mordor. I would really like to be surprised that they don't eff this up with unnecessary bs and just stick with pure Tolkien tried and true; no modern, progressive Hollywoord elements and what-not.

There have been multiple versions of Moon Knight from Marvel Comics over the years depending on the writers who've written the books. The one I'm most familiar with is Mark Spector (Moon Knight) is a disciple of the Egyptian god of the moon, Khonshu. From what I gather, Moon Knight is protector of folks at night. I've also heard Moon Knight described as Marvel's attempt a making a character akin to DC's Batman. I didn't collect either title back when I was into comics so I can't say one way or the other on that view.

Emphasis mine.
That's the trick. And it should be a simple one... Learn from the dreadful mistakes of The Hobbit films and other film adaptations that changed the source material to incorporate "The Message" (thanks, Critical Drinker) and other unnecessary twists (E.g. The Mist) and stick to good storytelling with well-paced plots, well-developed characters, and PROFOUND RESPECT FOR THE SOURCE MATERIAL.

If the show runners can do that, they will surpass GoT (seasons 1-4 anyway) as the best TV ever.
