Nick Cage...in a western. Been a while since I've seen a good shoot'em up.

Caught this trailer after reading a bit about Emily Blunt, in which she said she disliked scripts for movies that specifically push the "strong, female lead", during an interview about her latest series The English, on Amazon Prime. The trailer looks good, I'm going to give it a watch.
Emily Blunt has said that “strong female leads” are the “worst thing ever”. The actor reflected on the scripts she receives for new projects, saying that she loves characters “with a secret” but dislikes tropes around femininity. Discussing her new role in The English, in which she plays aristocrat Lady Cornelia Locke, Blunt told The Telegraph: “I love a character with a secret. And I loved Cornelia’s buoyancy, her hopefulness, her guilelessness.
“It’s the worst thing ever when you open a script and read the words ‘strong female lead’. That makes me roll my eyes – I’m already out. I’m bored.” She went on: “Those roles are written as incredibly stoic, you spend the whole time acting tough and saying tough things. Cornelia is more surprising than that,” Blunt explained. “She’s innocent without being naive and that makes her a force to be reckoned with. She startles Eli out of his silence and their differences become irrelevant because they need each other to survive. I thought that was very cool.”

New Indy film coming out. Just not sure I trust Hollyweird to do it right.

Emphasis mine.
Duuuuuuuuuude... you know better.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull reeked of awfulness such that I no longer care about any new Indy films. I have Raiders and Last Crusade and I'm good.

This looks good, really good. I'm glad to see it's actually in French, it lends more to the ambiance of the film, even if it means having to read subtitles.

This has A LOT of potential, especially if they stay close to Dumas' novel. I read The Three Musketeers back in the 90s and, IMO, Eva Green as Milady is a fantastic bit of casting!

I won't hold my breath after the Herculean shitfest of the first 2 D&D films... but I will cross a couple of fingers.

This came out back in 2015 or so, I think I recall hearing about it, but never given it watch; I think I'll see if I can find it streaming somewhere. Of the reviews I've seen, both the BBC miniseries and the book are very good. I believe Allan mentioned this briefly in the literary discussion thread.

I picked up this on DVD 2-3 years ago and watched it. I enjoyed it and can definitely recommend it. In fact, I liked it so much that I bought the books to read one of these years...Necron 99 wrote: ↑December 10th, 2022, 9:30 am This came out back in 2015 or so, I think I recall hearing about it, but never given it watch. Bruce and Sam both executive producers, Bruce gives it his blessing so I'm gonna hope for the best. Just the teaser, full trailer drops tomorrow.
