I was driving this morning and the DJ was queuing up some 80s songs on the local classic rock station. Before he kicks off the next song, he mentions that Pat Benatar has come out and said that she will no longer perform the song, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" during her touring/concert events, apparently she wants to do her part against "gun violence" related to the recent news stories and events.
I thought maybe this was a joke of some sort, something the DJ was just throwing out there to mess with folks, but sure enough. It's a real thing, I googled it after I got home.
I can't even with these people any more.

I heard about this last weekend. Funny thing is that Hit Me With Your Best Shot isn't about guns, shootings, etc. One of the lines in the song is "Put up your dukes, let's get down to it" and that's the extent of any violent content to the song.
Benatar and her hubby were recently inducted to the RnR Hall of Fame and they're on tour right now. The cynic in me thinks this is a publicity statement designed to attract attention.

Dude, you have the same thought I did. I mean, growing up, when you're sparring with someone you tell 'em, "ok, give me your best shot", or if you have plan and want to enact it, you generally say, "ok, I'm going to give it my best shot" and see what happens. It was NEVER about guns, anyone with half a brain knows this, and yet, as Shakespeare once wrote, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks".Ancalagon wrote: ↑July 26th, 2022, 1:14 pm I heard about this last weekend. This is one of the coolest sync/mixes I've ever heard. Awesome job.

Joseph Quinn, who plays Eddie Munson, a Dungeon Master/Metalhead, in Stranger Things Season 4 has an awesome guitar scene with Metallica's Master of Puppets, in one of the episodes. If you don't want to see any clips of the show, then you may not want to watch, but in all honesty, this one doesn't spoil anything in the season.
In preparation for his character and the scene above, Joe actually taught himself to play the song, so that, even though they used a prerecorded audio track, his finger movement and actions in the scene would be as authentic as possible. What's even more cool, though, is that Joe was invited backstage to hang out and jam with Metallica at this years Lollapalooza. They even gave him a signed guitar, which is pretty bad ass.

I was back on a Halestorm kick this week and discovered The Warning. They are a trio of sisters who can definitely rock. They've been opening for the Foo Fighters until Taylor Hawkins died and then Halestorm. Apparently they had a very early brush with fame when a cover of them doing Enter Sandman went viral. I almost feel like it might be in this thread, but I'll be damned if I'm going to search for it. Anyway here's their song Money.

Awsome vid, Sam, thanks for posting. The vocals are pretty good, but the instrumentals were kick ass.Captain_Blood wrote: ↑August 9th, 2022, 9:05 pm I was back on a Halestorm kick this week and discovered The Warning. Jamie Bower is another actor from season 4 of Stranger Things who portraits the villain known as Vecna, he also has secondary role in the show that I won't mention because spoiler. Aside from acting he also is a music artist and I caught this recent video on YT in my recommended list. Pretty damn good and the fact that he's British doing a southern vocal is pretty damn amazing.

Haha, I like rainstorms, had a nice one pour down yesterday evening. But the HP music, not really my jam.
