Actually, I would love to see the AL and all the WotC related nonsense move to a different hotel entirely. I mean, if it's getting that big, then I think it would suit them fine to have all of the AL and WotC/5e stuff in the other resort down the road and leave the old school and other gaming in the Geneva. Folks attending primarily for WotC or modern events (ie the new Living Dungeon, the "5e celebrity game events", and POD casts or whatever all that crap is) could all get rooms at the other resort and the rest of use could stay in the Geneva. Would eliminate the need for everyone to try and get rooms in one resort and we get the benefit of not having the WotC horde mucking things up. Hmmm...maybe I'm being too harsh...naaahhh. :dev:

I'd be in favor of that... but such an arrangement would most likely eat too much into GC's profit margin for Luke to go that route. i.e. coordination and contracts with two separate facilities. Imagine the advertising: Gamers at the Grand Geneva! 5nowflakes at (insert facility name)! Heh.

... And nope. Not too harsh at all. :balrog:

Ancalagon wrote: August 4th, 2019, 11:16 pm I scale the pre-gens' levels to the adventures I write up for convention play so they aren't always the levels they were when the gaming group started to disband in 1994 as folks graduated college, took jobs elsewhere, moved away, etc. For example, Ancalagon, the magic-user I played in the Greyhawk campaign, topped out at 13th level but for GacyCon XII he will be presented as 6th level.

With that being said, the pre-gens for The Skull of Tamoachan at GCXII will be:
Ancalagon, human 6th level magic-user (played by me in the Greyhawk campaign)
Jean-Pierre du Fleur, human 7th level thief (played by me in the Europe campaign)
Kinslayer Kreel, half-orc 5th level fighter/5th level assassin (from the Greyhwak campaign)
Maximilian Gospar, human 6th level kensai (from the Europe campaign)
Thoradin Steeljacket, dwarf 6th level cleric (from the Greyhawk campaign)

I don't want to say too much about The Skull of Tamoachan for fear of giving away something I might regret later. So for now I'll say this: the setting is World of Greyhawk in a very similar environment as module C1. One or more of the pre-gens will come up with some info and an idea that leads the party to the adventure location which includes some outdoor and dungeon components. More to come as GCXII nears....
Its been almost 2 months since I posted the above info so figured a little more wouldn't hurt.

There will be multiple opportunities to mix it up with the combat. However, there will also be opportunities for players to use their wits for some instances of problem solving... :gandalfg:
Finally, 3 months later, I submitted my adventure, The Skull of Tamoachan, to the GC folks for review and addition to the events listing. One minor change I made from the quoted info was to change the last name of pre-gen character Thoradin Steeljacket to Goldjacket. I intend to run the event on Thursday from noon to 4 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to whenever we finish.

Here is the publicity blurb text I submitted:

Short Version (had to be <= 400 spaces)

A day’s walk from the ruins of Tamoachan, your party found the valley in which was an unexplored temple of Mictlantecuhtli, Lord of Mictlán, the Land of the Dead. The natives spoke of priceless treasures of gold and gems within the temple. They also fear the valley, considering it damned and a place of certain death. Can your team reach the temple, gain entry, explore and return alive?

Long Version (viewable online)

A day’s walk from the ruins of Tamoachan, your party discovered a valley in which was an unexplored temple of Mictlantecuhtli, Lord of Mictlán, the Land of the Dead. Among the natives of the region, legend speaks of priceless treasures of gold and gems within the temple. The natives also fear the valley, considering it damned and a place of certain death. But you are a member of The Iron Circle Adventuring Company, a group known for accomplishing any mission undertaken! Will your team reach the temple, gain entry, explore and return alive?

The Skull of Tamoachan is an AD&D 1st Edition adventure set in the World of Greyhawk. Pre-gen characters from the Players Handbook and Oriental Adventures of 5th to 7th level will be provided. Players should, at a minimum, bring dice, a pencil, a Players Handbook, and their wits!

Any questions?

Most kosher!
A message came in tonight that my event was approved. I was hoping the use of "damned" in the description would not trip the family friendly fire alarm since GC is going out of its way to try not to offend anyone in any fashion. Heh.

Looks like events on the GC site are now popping up and available for viewing. Guess I'll start scouting prospective games.

I know its way early and event submission closes today... but yesterday I looked at what was loaded in the event schedule and ho-leeee shit was there a crap ton of AL. I mean hundreds of sessions. Is this Gary Con or WotC Con?

EDIT: Make that 552 AL events on the schedule as of tonight. :lame:
