This guy brings up a good topic of how the upcoming LotR series on Amazon, will probably suck.
And incase you don't have 10 minutes to watch the vid, here is a link to the article in question, as it relates to "all of the problems" with LotR (according to the author of the article) and why he thinks the series will be failure. I'm just glad I have plenty of copies of Professor Tolkien's works, before anyone rewrites or edits them for the sake of, whatever all that is.

I haven't watched The Goonies in years. It was always a favorite of mine as a kid too. Thanks for the reminder I'll have to find a copy soon.

OK. Didn't know Amazon gave the series to two guys with no experience in show-running and who were part of of JJ Abrams' rape of Star Trek. This, combined with the advertised "diversity" of the approach raises red flags. Diversity in Middle Earth can absolutely be displayed within the context of the setting with different races of men, different species, men and women, etc. What concerns me is the show runners bastardizing JRRT's works by changing stuff and injecting things that aren't there. People all over the world LOVE JRRT's Middle Earth. I hope some common sense prevails and the new show sticks to the spirit of the writings... or maybe just to the actual writings without inserting agendas.Necron 99 wrote: ↑December 18th, 2020, 6:05 pm This guy brings up a good topic of how the upcoming LotR series on Amazon, will probably suck.

I fully expect Amazon to do to LoTR what Netflix did to Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher. Supposedly they will be telling stories from the time period between The Hobbit and LoTR, but this is a time period where all the major characters are already known and well described. So get ready for some horrible mis-casting and new characters created from whole cloth who do nothing to server the plot, but are supposed to make some special interest group feel good.
Get ready for a story where the Shire is actually ruled by and evil Elven lord who is actually a vampire that preys only on dark skinned hobbits. He can only be defeated by the power of love.

I thought the series was to be set during the Second Age. There are some great opportunities there if SJW agendas aren't shoved at the viewers.

I'm not really holding out that a Tolkien series will be worth it's weight. I fully expect that it will get hosed in some manner.
Maybe it'll be good, but I'm going to toss some bias in the direction that it won't and go into it with pretty heavy skepticism. If I'm wrong, then I'll be pleasantly surprised, if I'm right, then I called it and will already be expecting crap. Then I can walk away a bit less disappointed than with Lovecraft Country.

Probably the best approach given how studios and showrunners tend to screw things up. *Looking at The Hobbit films as an example*

Apparently it is set during the second age. Which is nice, but I'm going into it like y'all I'm not going to hold out a lot of hope for something good.

Been revisiting some old TV shows lately, 80s and 90s, enjoying the hell out of Married with Children. One of my absolute favorites from back in the day. This right here is humor, the way it should be.
