DEATH BY AXE: Robert the Bruce Vs Henry de Bohun at Bannockburn (1314)
History books record that at the Battle of Bannockburn, during the First War of Scottish Independence in 1314, Robert the Bruce killed Sir Henry de Bohun with a single blow of his battle axe. But is it true? What is the source material? Is that even possible?

This one is for Capt. Blood, since it's in his own home state. This is some pretty funny stuff to watch.

From a channel I follow on YT. Bjorn discusses his spiritual following and shows off some stone circles in Norway.

I completely understand where he was coming from when saying he was having trouble finding the words to express his feelings when out in that particular area of nature. Me and the Better Half had a similar experience hiking through the Redwoods and the Ladybird Johnson trail... among trees that are centuries old and a few that are well over a millennia. I was humbled and felt a reverence for nature unlike anything else to that point. We will go back some day.

Having grown up in rural south Ga, I can definitely say I miss the serenity of nature and rural living. At that age though (kid, teen through young adult), you really take it for granted until you don't have it any more. I spent so much time in the woods, down dirt roads, walking through open fields, down by the creek and streams, heck even just riding my bike for miles down county roads. Small town living and country life. There's nothing a city can offer that will ever convince me it's a better way to live. Which is funny, too, because I didn't feel that way when we lived in Valdosta, even though it was one of the largest urban cities in south Ga. But, I think that may have been more because I was more active with friends and hobbies while living there.Ancalagon wrote: ↑February 28th, 2023, 10:51 pm I completely understand where he was coming from when saying he was having trouble finding the words to express his feelings when out in that particular area of nature. One of the most amazing experiences I had out of doors, was when I took a trip out to the disc golf course. I got there and there was no one else around, I was the only one. Dark clouds from an oncoming thunderstorm were rolling in from the east. I started to play the holes and about 2-3 in, the sky lit up, the thunder started to roll and the rain came down. Not just a rain shower either, no, it POURED down in torrents. And I continued to play all 18 holes. Soaked through to the bone in the middle of the woods with a raging thunderstorm, it was unlike anything else I've ever done or experienced.
Having now lived here in N. Florida for several years, outside of Jacksonville, the thought of moving to a small, rural town has never been more appealing. I don't think it will happen until at least after my daughter is off to college, but at some point I would like to find somewhere less congested to live; less people and more nature, overall better.
