F'n pissed off to start the new year and feeling musically aggressive so here goes some old school Megadeth to Set the World Afire.

and stuff?
Sorry to hear that dude, peeved off is no way to start off the new year. Maybe you should imbibe heavy libations.

Libations good! My oldest (of the four daughters) got into a car accident on Saturday, totaled the car. Thank god all like 76 of the airbags deployed
She had just turned onto the main road, and a Fed Ex truck in front of her stopped short in the road to make a delivery; something her 8 months of driving experience hadn't prepared her for. She rear-ended him. The Fed Ex truck (van?) has maybe a scratch on it, our car - totaled. After the stress of "thank goodness she's alright" and "oh crap how are we going to survive on one car" wore off, I calmed down. I figured it would have really sucked if it hadn't happened on a holiday week (my wife has a part time flower delivery gig a couple times a week, plus the 4 kids to drive around, I work 35 minutes away and my second job (with the in home kid therapy) is almost every weeknight and most of Saturday) but since it did, it's making things a bit easier... at least for this week. It's also giving us a breather to plan what we're going to do. And above all thank goodness Emma is okay! So I went into the new year actually smiling - no clue how we'll do what needs doing, but pretty confident we will.

Wow Ron, sorry to hear about the incident but as Anc said, glad to hear your daughter is ok. My meager suggestion, just try and get by, and by that I mean, if you need to get another car, try to just get something used and cheap, but still in solid running condition (have it checked out by a mechanic you trust) just to get things similarly back to normal. My dad did this after we had one of our cars totaled back when I was in high school. Our bank had a repossessed car that they were selling for like $2600, not the best looking but it ran and was in good condition with miles on it. I drove it for the next 3-5 years until the transmission when out in it. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it served the immediate need to get us by until we could get something better.rredmond wrote: ↑January 1st, 2020, 10:48 am Libations good! Glad to hear, though, that you were able to step into the new year without a more serious loss and a positive attitude. And, since this is our song thread, I'll add this:

I got Guinness as Christmas presents from the missus and the mother-in-law, and my usually beer-barren fridge has bunches of it! Thank goodness for the black stuff!
Truth! And thanks!
Thanks for sharing and I totally agree. The missus doesn't so much. She's thinking my oldest is going to need to drive, and my 15yo she'll be learning soon too. But I'm thinking, we have to stay within our means (and after we pay off the totaled car, which may be a decent amount depending on what insurance will pay, we'll have way less means than the already zero ) and also some of my cases are in dodgy areas of Jersey, I have two in Camden now, so having anything nice, or shiny, or whatever gets you noticed in a bad way.Necron 99 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2020, 7:10 pm...My meager suggestion, just try and get by, and by that I mean, if you need to get another car, try to just get something used and cheap, but still in solid running condition (have it checked out by a mechanic you trust) just to get things similarly back to normal.
I think once she calms down, and once we have all the information, she'll see my side of things. But thanks for the good wishes and suggestions, totally appreciate it guys!

1/10/20 was a sad day for music fans with the news of the passing of the legendary Neil Peart. I saw RUSH in concert in 2010 and am thankful for the experience. Peart was spectacular!
Here is one of my favorite RUSH tunes, Time Stand Still. All around great song, musically and lyrically. Peart's lyrics. Just another reminder to let those you give a damn about know that you give a damn.
