You know, I saw the announcement on the FB group that the Trolls are planning a return to GenCon in 2024. I wonder if this is due to the uptick of C&C and interest in the new GG products.
Seems like two of your favorite system are making GenCon a thing.

Hadn't heard anything about the Trolls going back to GenCon but good on them as it will be good visibility for C&C.Necron 99 wrote: ↑December 30th, 2023, 7:55 pm You know, I saw the announcement on the FB group that the Trolls are planning a return to GenCon in 2024. Columbia Games has hit GenCon numerous times over the years. I met and chatted with several of the Harn folks in 2012 when I attended with Jared and Sam. Nice folks. I played in my first HarnMaster game that year and was smitten with it.

Next up in the hardcover Kingdoms of Harn series: The Republic of Tharda
This just went live on kickstarter so check it out!
And, in case no one has seen it, here is discussion on why you should be using Tharda as a setting.

I got the email from Columbia Games. Have you picked up all of the books so far? I only have the first two, I believe.

Yep - I've snagged all of them so far. And went ahead and pledged for Tharda.
The 3 I have the most interest in and potential use for are Rethem (already released), Tharda, and Kanday (slated for a future kickstarter). Those three kingdoms share borders in western Harn with a precarious balance of "peace" (or at least not open warfare) that has a lot of potential.
Rethem is typically viewed as an "evil" kingdom. Tharda is a republic similar to some times of Roman history. Kanday is a feudal kingdom, typically viewed as a "good" kingdom. Maybe one day I'll use Kanday as the setting for some convention games...

I found the following video by Ardwulf's Lair for a First Look at the HârnWorld 40th Anniversary book. Good stuff.Ancalagon wrote: ↑February 18th, 2023, 1:15 pm The good folks at Columbia Games just launched another Hârn-related kickstarter. This one focuses on the game setting, HârnWorld, with tons of info in a hardback book.
HârnWorld: Medieval Fantasy RPG SETTING Hardback
40th-anniversary deluxe HARDCOVER of the classic fantasy role-playing setting, rich with authentic medieval detail and bonus material.
A warning is included which states
"Unlike other fantasy roleplaying environments, the HârnWorld setting and Cities of Hârn include some unpleasant, but realistic aspects of real-world medieval life, including violence and sexual themes." Emphasis mine.
Table top gamers are well-acquanited with violence (murder hobos, slasher/torture films, over-the-top violent effects a la Kill Bill blood sprays, etc.) but in 'Murica a lot of people seem to lose their minds over anything related to nudity and sex. The inclusion of such material makes sense for a setting built on authentic medieval detail. I've read over a fair amount of HârnWorld info and can say there is nothing gratuitous and/or puerile in the material.
I'll be pledging!![]()
