So back in 2010 I received a book in the mail unsolicited. It's called Shattered Empires: Roleplaying the World of Arcanis - Quicklaunch, published by Paradigm Concepts. I know the system is still in print. I've looked it up several times, but I was wondering if anyone here has ever actually played it?

Yes, I think I played a session of this at a convention many years ago. At least it sounds familiar enough that I think I did... maybe at Origins or GenCon. I don't recall specifics but the game name sounds familiar.

Haha, the old Arcanis RPG.
I delved into that game many ages ago, back when before I left Valdosta. I've forgotten most of the details for the game, but I seem to recall it had an unique system, but the setting was fleshed out pretty well, they even ran "living campaigns" at conventions. I believe James and I played in at least one at DragonCon one year or maybe Origins.
I think I jumped on the wagon sometime in the early-2ks, because the company that put out the game tried to sway in players by making a d20 version of the game when the D&D3e SRD had picked up steam. But it never really took off and I think a lot of fans were put out because they enjoyed the original system and style of play.
Shortly after I started buying the core game and supplements the company started losing traction and never finished putting out some of the material they said was in the works, I don't think it ever really recovered.
Based on what I see now with a quick google search, it looks like they took the game in the direction of 5E. I'm guessing the original system is no longer a thing.

Yeeeaaahh... I think you're right. Most likely DragonCon or Origins rather than GenCon. Too bad it has gone the way of 5e as there are a ton of games out there using that system.

Ahh too bad. I was kind of hoping it was still a unique system. Still, I might siphon off the lore into the Siege Engine

Jumping on the d20 bandwagon was a big thing back in the 3.x era, and it's the same way now for 5e, which is a bit unfortunate in some ways. I just saw a post by Free League that mentioned coming out with another version of The One Ring, for 5e, similar to what Cubicle 7 did when they had the license and put out Adventures in Middle-Earth. This one, however, is called, The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying.
As long as their efforts don't interfere with the original TOR game system, good luck to them pulling in more money by converting the setting to 5e, but if it does, I'll be peeved off.
