I never owned this back in the day as a kid, I had to do a double take when I saw it on the shelf in Target a week back. Originally it was released in 1977, and now it's been reprinted and put back out on the shelves. I like this throw back some board game companies are doing. I would love to see some original board games from back in the day circulated back into the modern age.

I picked this up purely on impulse and nostalgia, seeing the faces of the original cast on a box that looks like it dropped right out of the 70s/80s. Haven't gotten it to the table yet, but I figure game play will be a little more basic than most of what gets played these days, lol.
The players' mission was to move character tokens (Han/Chewbacca and Luke/Leia) to the Control Room and Tractor Beam to get the Death Star Blueprints. After this, players made their way to the Millennium Falcon and jump into hyperspace.

Once there, the goal was to reach the rebel base with the Death Star blueprints. After battling and defeating several TIE/LN starfighters the game is won by the player first to arrive at the base with the plans.

That looks fun! I imagine if you land on a space where Vader is then its game over for the players.

The only negative aspect I have is the spinner. It's not a good spinner, but since it is only 1-3, I figure why not use a d6 die roll instead if the spinner doesn't get the job done.

Indeed. I'd always prefer a die roll over a spinner.

Be curious to hear your thoughts after playing---we had this BITD and may even still have it at my parents' home ;)
