One of the sites I visit here and there is the AD&D site on Reddit. Lately I've seen quite a few posts from players who state they started playing D&D with 5e, but now are interested in playing or running AD&D (1e or 2e) or some edition of TSR D&D.
I was brought into D&D by 5e and want to learn how to DM ad&d 2e but Idk where to begin, any pointers?
I have the Dungeon master's guide, players handbook, unearthed arcana and Monster manual.
New DM for adnd 2E
How do you guys get to level 2? I’ve tried throwing rats and small groups of enemies at them but even with class exp it takes so long to level that the players die on the way. What am I missing? Two random kobolds hitting the rogue and he is gone, and they have to go through like 1000 kobolds before the wizard levels
Brand New DM to Rules Cyclopedia
Hey everyone! So I am just starting to DM with the Rules Cyclopedia and I am wondering where exactly do I start? I have dmed 5e and played 3e and 4e but this is vastly different from all of those.
I've never played AD&D2e before, but I love the setting of Dark Sun too much to not try. How can I get started?
AD&D2e from what I've seen feels a little intimidating to start with. Not so much in terms rules or anything, I'm fine with crunch and older mechanics; but the books themselves. Almost every class has their own book for example? Are they necessary for play? It's not what I'm used to.
Basic Intro Module for 2e?
Starting a 2e game, working on my own dungeon (to mixed results) but I'm wondering if there are any good basic-ass 1st level modules you'd recommend for a new 2e DM (plenty of experience in 5e) and new 2e players (plenty of experience in 3e, PF, 5e, etc).
This is pretty damn cool. I really like that some players are wanting to jump into older editions of the game, even if they have a difficult time understanding "how" to play it compared to the latest edition. This reminds me of the first Whitebox adventure I ran at GaryCon, I had a few new edition players who had never played prior editions, giving it a try and they LOVED it. Even made a return to my adventure the following year. I hope this trend continues to grow.

Good to hear!

They just need to read-read-read and find some folks to game with in a local group, via Roll20, or even better, at a convention that has a significant TSR D&D presence and sling dice with some of the older, more seasoned players. 8-)
