Legends of King Arthur linger around Glastonbury like a mystical mist rising from the nearby Somerset marshes.
The nearby hill fort at South Cadbury has often been linked to Camelot, with archaeological evidence suggesting the site was active during the early 6th century—the most likely time for a historical Arthur to have lived.
The connection between Arthur and Glastonbury dates back to at least the early medieval period. In the late 12th century, monks at Glastonbury Abbey claimed to have discovered the grave of Arthur and his queen, Guinevere. They reported finding a stone inscribed with the words "Here lies Arthur, king." Beneath it were the remains of a large man and a smaller woman's skeleton.
The monks later re-interred the bones within the abbey, creating a popular pilgrimage site. Today, visitors can still see the marked location of the supposed grave in the abbey grounds.

Saw this randomly on FB, thought it was a cool read, whether or not it's in any way true. If I ever get the opportunity to travel to the UK, I would love to visit the site just to say I did. The legend of King Arthur is a story that I absolutely loved reading about in pretty much any book, as a kid.

Glastonbury will absolutely be part of a Coeur de Lion campaign...
Me and the missus absolutely want to visit England and Scotland sometime in the next decade. One of the many places I will visit is the Eagle and Child Pub where Tolkien and CS Lewis used to go. I want to sit there and have a pint like they did.
