Allan, I've not read any of the books, so I can't comment on the faithfulness. I never even knew about them until after the series came out, which I started watching from S1. If you’ve read the first book and watched the show, how faithful is the show to the books, and how’s the pacing? One of the things I disliked about Game of Thrones s1 is that it compressed so much of the first book in its 8 episodes.
