I'm sure most of you would recognize this art or at least the style, it was pretty common back in the day. You may not know who the artist was, but his artwork has been used in everything from fantasy literature to album covers.

Rodney Matthews has a unique style of artwork, one that I've always appreciated for it's sci-fi and fantasy appeal. Below are some sample of various pieces:

That's good stuff. And the first one really does look like an album cover of some sort!
Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now!

Love his stuff, in particular the various Elric/Eternal Champion-inspired pieces. When I was up in Minneapolis in Sept last year, I picked up a signed copy of his _Elric at the End of Time_ artbook, from either DreamHaven Books or Uncle Hugo's bookstore (the latter of which was burned to the ground in the recent riots there, and the former was damaged, but not too badly all-in-all).

Matthews did quite a bit of LP cover work too, so no surprises there :D
