Tabletop Simulator for RPGs, 3P Game Table

A while back I was talking with Anc about my game room/table that is setup in TTS, specifically for running RPGs. Tabletop Simulator is a great program for playing tabletop games, whether board games, card games, or whatever, in an online, virtual setting. I was explaining all of the different functionality and aspects that TTS was capable of, but without actually having the program and logging in, it's a bit hard to see it.

Below is a video I put together showing off the game room and table, along with a fair number of bits and pieces that I used to make it my own.

That's some pretty slick lookin' stuff there, man!

I liked that the DM's name on the character sheet was Acererak.

Can players see the note pads of other players if they navigate around the screen?

Great video Jay! Can you share your room with me? I'd really like to check out the work you've done. I've actually got a spare copy of this from a 4 pack I bought ages ago so if James needs one I can gift it to him if he gets a steam account. I don't remember if you can receive gifts without purchasing $5 worth of stuff, but we could always give it a try. I think his machine is older than dirt too; so we'd need to make sure it meets the required specs.

By default, yes, there may be a way to set it up so that only a player can see a player's stuff. I'll have to do some testing.

I think I can share it, let me see what I can do. Since others can share to the workshop, there should be a way to do it. We'll definitely need to let James try it out to see if it will run without issues.

If a group is playing a game using TTS, would they still use another source, like Discord, for audio like we do with the Roll20 games?

Steam has a built in audio system, which we could try out. If it doesn't work well enough, we could always go back to Discord.

In general I still prefer Discord for audio, but I've had success with steams chat and voice chat while using TTS.

It's definitely a departure from TotM and requires a bit more work on the DM's side of the house. I guess it just depends on how much someone wants to dive in and the amount of time they can devote to it. Playing on Roll20 and even using just the video chat like we did for your game has the benefits of being super simple, no real work involved which allows the DM and players to just pick-up and go.
