Standing in line at Publix this morning, I just happened to turn around and saw this staring me in the face:

I'm not one for bog standard news magazines, but an entire issue dedicated to Tolkien, I picked up without batting an eye. Flipping through, it's a nice piece on the ole Professor with lots of info some people would know and some they may not. Regardless, it makes for a nice collector's item for any fan of not only his works, but the man himself.

Cool. I'll be going to the store this afternoon so will keep an eye open for it in the line.

Did you see the Tolkien film yet?

I have not seen the film, I figure if/when I watch it, it'll probably be on DVD. That sort isn't something I particularly care to see in a theater but I've heard pretty good things so far.

I watched it last weekend and enjoyed it. Clocked in at about 1:52 but could've used a few more minutes here and there, IMO. It wasn't perfect but I didn't feel like I wasted my time or wanted my $$$ back after walking out as is often the case.

Glad to see this. The trailer just seems meh to me. But I do think in terms of linguistics and world building the man was a genius. And that picture of him on the magazine is one of the best, without a pipe :) , I've seen of him.
